2007

Well, here we are-the end of another year (and another summary)...
Overall, the year was great. Many changes came our way, and the prospect of even greater change looms... more about that later.
But I managed to learn so much more of this life (I think). And I will hold out hope for the rest of humanity, as I continue to increase my understanding of the entire world around me.
And I will continue to be your friend, by playing the role of Reason...hope it helps the "all of us".
Finally, for all those "fundie-cons" I know: I will keep an open mind, for your sake!
Here's to 2008!

Whew...

What a busy few days! The official "gifting" season is completed, and what a bounty we've obtained. Through the blur of it all, I did enjoy the time spent with family and friends.
Here is my thought for today- Why do we wait for the holidays to get together with lost relations and give gifts of affection? Why don't we all do these things during the rest of the year? I, for one, plan to change the way I do business. SO, if during the calender year you receive a random gift- or an invite for dinner- or some other oddity, just remember you were warned here first: My contribution to making the world a better place will include good will randomly practiced upon my fellow humans. (And to think, all this without the silliness of dogma or deity!)
You have been warned!!!

Almost time

I finally have (almost) finished shopping. Of course, some relatives will receive their gifts late, as usual. I promise myself each year I'll get it all done by October, and don't seem to do so. I think it simply relates to the weather. It has been cold the last couple of days and only now do I feel the holiday spirit- in so much as the shopping spirit. And this year I will admit I went "minimalist" on gifts, as I have begun to embrace the "quality, not quantity" option. OK, that may translate into "you're a cheap bastard" to some, but I love them anyway... Here's to each of you readers: Happy Holidays with Peace and Love.

amazing!

I've been cleaning and purging junk from my closet (both literally and figuratively) preparing for the new arrival, and been looking at my past through aged and "healthier" eyes, to find I am glad to still be here. On earth, that is. And I find the feelings still well up from the pains of past, especially when I find the photos, poems, letters, etc., of the time. And boy, does my old Journey album (now playing in the tape deck!) remind me of those times...
Anyway I am proclaiming my joy at the future unfolding before me- putting the past in its rightful place!
And thanks to Amy, Matt and Amanda for defining friendship and love.
As the song playing says:
...out on the border of a changing skyline,
we put hope in front of fears; we all need new Frontiers...

P.S. I still wonder what happened to everyone...

A new hope...

So I've been reading "Broken Government" by John Dean (good reading, but I'm sure all the modern conservatives will avoid it like the plague!) and I began to think about our current state of politics...and perhaps now is the time to face the truth. The president and his puppet have done a service to this country which was long needed- to take our government to its lowest point, damaging the foundations of the republic, fracturing the bonds of the people and halting all forward progress- resulting in a lesson for the common folk!
Now that we've all seen first hand the damage which can be done, let us all take heed when the next opportunity arises to place someone in power who does not meet the basic requirements to hold the office- COMPETENCE. INTELLECT. INTEGRITY. REASON.
As the true election season emerges, think long and hard of what the office truly represents, and what the person IN the office should represent, choose cautiously based on the good of the ALL and not the few! And that does include YOU...

Holidays are all over us!?!?!!

My in box has been filling with holiday tidings, varied as they may be, and I am thankful for them all. Cards and photos (nowdays the same thing) line the mantle. It is so good to see old friends doing well.
But it reminds me of the one mail I received about the fundies "taking back christmas" and how the term "Happy Holidays" is an attempt to remove christ from the true meaning...
Seems they've been fighting this battle for many years now. And I'll say it yet again- "Happy Holidays" has nothing to do with the removal of christ from christmas. It is used- in the TRUE spirit of the American tradition as an all-inclusive holiday greeting (think:christmas, kwanza, hannukah, saturnalia, winter solstace, etc.,) to include New Year.
So for all the fundies out there- LIGHTEN UP!
If you call yourself a true patriot, then open your narrow minds and realize each one of us celebrate the same thing, regardless of its label!

There may be a pop quiz tommorow!

Today...

A weather system has settled in and it is spring-likeoutside. I feel for those trapped in a winter wonderland, though I'm sure the holidays will seem more...traditional. Perhaps we'll get a small touch of that white stuff in time to feel more seasonal. I have to admit those are nice memories of the holidays spent cold and grey, when the lights glisten and drinks warmed after the ham dinner. Oh the days of yesteryear...

day one

Hello big eyed world!
I thought I'd finally try this thing as an outlet for my voices and give Amy a break. Let me learn how to use it and I'll be back soon enough...

About Me

My photo
For those who don't know me that way... I spend most of my energies contemplating life and everyone in it- mostly feeding on a combination of fascination and frustration, which is most of what I feel for the world at large...

Good Night!
